Content Rating : NONE
Back Cover :

This book contains some stories from my life: the awkward growing up years, the confusing dating years, the fulfilling working years, and what it was like to be asked to play one of my favorite characters again. You probably think I'm talking about my incredible achievement as Dolly in Hello, Dolly! as a Langley High School junior, a performance my dad called 'you're so much taller than the other kids.' But no! I'm talking about Lorelai Gilmore, who, back in 2008, I wasn't sure I'd ever see again. Also included: tales of living on a houseboat, meeting guys at awards shows, and that time I was asked to be a butt model. A hint: all three made me seasick.”
My Thoughts :
Ok up front, I love Lauren Graham, mainly because I am a Gilmore Girls fan and have watched the series through more times than I care to admit. But, I also loved her in Parenthood. In interviews, she always seems so real and I like that. Now that you know my given bias, I really enjoyed this book. It was laugh out loud funny. I listened to the audiobook. She sings and laughs at herself; it’s great. This short memoire is quirky and fun.
So, like I said I loved it 4 stars; but, if you are not a Gilmore Girls fan you should probably remove 1 stars. I also gave it a NONE rating; however, she does say B.S. twice.
 What I liked :

  • The Voice – You can take this two ways, the reader’s voice or the book’s voice. First off Lauren is the voice you hear. Yay! I mean how could you have an audio memoire without that person doing the reading? Secondly, the book reads just like she talks. I love that, it makes it feel like you are having a conversation with her. So, yes the book takes some random tangents; but, I thought it just added to the conversational feel of the book.
  • Gilmore Girls – I smell snow! So, she doesn’t give a ton of Gilmore Girls detail. Do not expect any dirt from her either. But, it was nice to hear her thoughts on each season and how she felt about the last season.
  • Her Random Thoughts – The book is a collection of some of her thoughts on life; and, some of these are so funny. I thought the diet/workout chapter was hilarious. Yes, it did feel a little disjointed at times; but, they were all uplifting and I enjoyed each.

What I didn’t like :

  • The Pictures – Like I said this was the audiobook version. In the book, she references pictures and since we are listening to it instead of reading it, sadly we don’t know what those pictures are. This isn’t something she could really help though.
